Bio
Banghua is an incoming Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, starting in Fall 2025. He received his Ph.D. from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) department at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was advised by Michael I. Jordan and Jiantao Jiao. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University.
Banghua’s research focuses on improving the efficiency and safety of foundation models using tools from statistics and machine learning theory. He is dedicated to creating open-source datasets and tools for public access. Additionally, he has interests in game theory, reinforcement learning, human-AI interactions, and machine learning systems. He is a recipient of the David Sakrison Memorial Prize for outstanding research at Berkeley EECS.
Recently, he co-founded Nexusflow AI, where the team leverages cutting-edge research to democratize GenAI agents for enterprises.
