Lauren Van Fossen (she/her)Assistant Director of Undergraduate Student ServicesI’m originally from California, where I attended college in Southern California, but moved up to Seattle in 2015 for graduate school to pursue student development and academic advising. My favorite thing about advising is learning from you all – share with me what you’re learning about in your classes, or what you’re exploring in an internship or job. |
Whitney Thomas (she/her)Senior Undergraduate Academic AdviserSpecializes in: Combined BS-MS program, IEEE RSO staff adviser, academic support programming I love working as an academic adviser and being able to help students on their academic journeys. As an undergraduate, I double majored in English and Biology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Afterwards, I earned my Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Marquette University. I relocated to Seattle in 2019, which was when I first started working at UW ECE. |
Madeline Miller (she/her)Undergraduate Academic AdviserSpecializes in: ENGINE Capstone, prospective student advising I have been working at UW since 2020 in an advising capacity, and love working with ECE students. I also pursued my undergraduate degree at UW, where I got my B.S. in Biology and minored in Spanish. My goal is to use my own academic journey, professional experiences, and life as a student to help you navigate your time in ECE at UW. I’m currently a senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on control systems and sustainable energy systems. Within the College of Engineering, I also work as an Engineering Peer Educator. |

I have my BS degree in Psychology and an M.Ed, Ed.S degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida. I have more than 17 years of experience in academic affairs and student services.

Previously, I worked at CIRCLE to help ensure a smooth transition for international students to UW. I am also a proud UW alum. |
Rebecca Carlson (she/her)Career and Industry Programs ManagerI’m a graduate of UW, getting a double degree in Business and Psychology. I also have a Master’s in Higher Education degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to getting into Higher Education, I had extensive careers in both Human Resources and Residential Real Estate. Fun fact: my first job after graduation in the 1990’s was at a Paul Allen start-up called Starwave. I have a passion for working with students and helping them realize their career aspirations. |
