Abstract
The proposed work intends to address the present deficits and weaknesses in EM microelectronic modeling. In particular, advances that have been made in the EM community for large-scale scattering problems, using techniques such as the fast multipole method (FMM) have not yet made a significant impact for realistic and accurate 3D full-wave EM simulation in the microelectronic packaging, interconnect and on-chip regimes. As operating frequencies continue to increase, and microelectronic circuit complexity also increases, there is a growing need for accurate and rapid electromagnetic simulation for parasitics, crosstalk, mixed signal effects and propagation characterization.
